What are our worst sins? They are chiefly our lost opportunities to grow in wisdom and in nobility of character. They lie in our failure to develop our fullest and best powers given to us by God. They are our missed marks:

The time we wasted.
The education we neglected.
The curiosity we stifled.
The adventures we by-passed.
The excitements of a child which we ignored.
The human relations we treated with indifference.
The entertainment we mistook for culture.
The freedom we left unsupported.
The causes that we scorned.
The books that we did not read.
The wonderful world that we did not penetrate.
